ok so for the past couple of days on my way to work ill be cruising all the guages will be fine then all of a sudden the engine just dies. then im just coasting and i cant turn the steering wheel. i have to put it in neutral turn the key off, then start the truck again. which it starts up...

Cummins 5.9 l Fuel Pump diagnosis and repair options. The fuel system of a Cummins 5.9 l engine is a bit more complicated than what you would expect from a diesel engine. The engine actually needs two separate fuel pumps. The lift pump draws the fuel straight from the fuel tank. It is then syphoned to the main injection pump which feeds the engine.
I have a 03 dodge cummins with no start cold or hot .I can take the fuel filter out and wipe the bole clean then more than likely I have to start it with wd 40 but then it starts fine for several times after that 2 to 3 sec. every morning I even let it sit for a week and it started right up .Then I run it to town 10 mi. .

I did the cycle the key three times and no codes appeared? It is a buddies rig and it has 206k. He has a fuel pressure gauge and its got 11-15 psi. It hasn't done the no start when warm thing they do when vp44's are starting to die. I was wondering if it could be the ECM? Any Ideas????? TIA

- Nov 10, 2013 · This is a N-14 red top select 435 hp. Problem started about 3 years ago . If truck sat with out being run for more than 3 days it was hard to start. Engine would crank over for about a minute before starting, and if it gets below 50 degrees it won't start unless I plug in enging block heater. Now it has gotten progressively worse.
